The Story of the Seed

1. How is your plant (or any plants in our garden, for that matter) getting bigger and adding biomass? Your explanation should correctly use the terms and concepts of  cell division (mitosis) ,  photosynthesis , and  cellular respiration? My groups plants have continued growing and gaining biomass through photosynthesis and cell division. The plants grow through photosynthesis by absorbing light water and CO2 and turning it into sugar and oxygen. The plants then use cellular respiration to break the sugar up and are captured as form of ATP. The plants also produce PKG and Rubisco during photosynthesis. Rubisco is a enzyme involved in the first major step of carbon fixation and PKG is used to convert bisphosphoglycerate into 3-phosphoglycerate in glycolysis. If a signal was sent to the nucleus to make more enzymes the plants would absorb more light energy.

How does our garden grow. Well it would be necessary to evaluate the current condition of our brassica plants. They have grown taller and wider. Much like the other plants in the garden they’re thriving in green colorations. Unfortunately some appear to be eaten. All the plants are overshadowed by one group’s plant which is much larger than the rest. Now it is important to think more scientific. How are our plants growing is a more important question. Well through photosynthesis the plants obtain sugars to be used by the plants from its chloroplasts. Cellular respiration allows the plants to convert common energies into these nutrients. Much like how food makes a person grow, photosynthesis and cellular respiration makes a plant grow. Of course there is a further explanation of why these sugars makes a plant grow. With more energy comes a greater rate of cell division through mitosis. Mitosis creates myriads of more cells making a little sprout into a great tree.  PKG and Rubisco are

I interveiwed Jack Panighetti for story of the seed #5. first question, what surprised you during the year? Jack: I was surprised when we saw the onion cell under the mircoscope. Will: what was the hardest project we've done so far? Jack: the hardest project I've done so far is when we repaired and painted the chicken coop. it was difficult because my partners did'nt show up some times and the hay was hard to get out. Will: what have you learned about growing plants? Jack: Over time I have learned that the plants need time to grow and you have to check up on them to make sure the weeds are not stealing water from our plants. I interviewed Caleb Spencer from first period. My first question was how did you enjoy the garden? He said it was cool because he interacted with nature. Second question was if he ever got mad while growing plants. He said he didn't "there just plants." What other life did you see in the garden I asked him. Caleb mentioned chickens and bugs such as beetles. My fourth question was what do your plants look like now. He said they've covered in weeds and grass. My final question was did you like growing. Caleb said yes it was fun since he could be outside.

William Butzow, Jason State  Mr. Bursch Period 1 12/13/19 Bench Repair Project  I n this project Jason and I got a bench from the garden near the chicken coops and decided to repair it. In order to repair it we first checked for any loose wood and exposed nails. Then we f illed in cracks and holes with filler. After that we took out the loose plants nailed them back together then back onto the bench. Finally we took some paint and painted multiple coats over the wooden planks.

Zander calfee 10/22/19 Bio-1(1)        1 one change that I noticed was that out plant wasn’t getting bigger like before but our neighbor’s plant was becoming very big I think our plant is competing with the other plants and losing . 2. The plant’s role in the water cycle is transpiration they absorb water through the ground and then it evaporates through the leaves.  3. They absorb carbon through the air from animals carbon dioxide and then they give oxygen to the animals which make more carbon dioxide.i think the other plants big leaves are covering our plants leaves so it can’t get carbon dioxide  4.our plant uses nitrogen from the ground for energy than that energy is eaten by animals than they poop nitrogen which is absorbed through the ground. I think that are not getting nitrogen because the other plant is taking it from the ground.
